Lipolytic injections are a cosmetic procedure aimed at reducing excess fat in problem areas. The lipolytic is injected into the patient’s fat deposits.

What's important to know before lipolytic procedures?

  1. Avoid alcohol consumption 48-24 hours before the procedure, especially red wine.
  2. Refrain from taking anti-inflammatory drugs (e.g., Ibuprofen), Aspirin, Vitamin E, or Ginkgo Biloba a week before the procedure. This will reduce possible side effects such as bruises and/or swelling in the treated area(s).
  3. Stop using cosmetics containing retinol three (3) days before and after treatment.
  4. Beta-blockers (used to treat high blood pressure) and some thyroid conditions may chemically affect the procedure. Consult with a doctor before the procedure.
  5. If you have a soy allergy, you should not undergo this procedure, as the active ingredients contain soy derivatives.
  6. You should not be pregnant or breastfeeding to undergo this procedure.
  7. If you develop cold sores, spots, or rashes on the treated area before the procedure, the timing of the procedure should be reconsidered.
  8. If you have any special events or vacations planned, please schedule the procedure at least 2 weeks before.

    After the procedure:

    1. During the first two hours after the procedure, you may feel slight itching and burning.
    2. Redness, itching, swelling, or bruising may occur after the procedure. Usually, this resolves within 1-7 days.
    3. After the procedure, you can apply an ice compress to the treated area if there is swelling.
    4. The treated area may be sensitive to touch, which usually resolves within a week.
    5. Do not take Aspirin, as it may intensify bruising at the injection site.
    6. Avoid touching the treated area unnecessarily for six hours after the procedure.
    7. Avoid sun and cold outdoor activities until redness and/or swelling subsides.
    8. It’s important to maintain hydration and drink plenty of fluids after lipolytic injections.
    9. The injection site should be massaged every evening for two weeks.
    10. Avoid intense physical exercises, saunas, and sunbathing, especially red wine, for at least six hours after treatment.
